Well, folks, Maryland's politicians have done it again. Governor Wes Moore just signed legislation banning semiautomatic handguns with what's being called a "cruciform trigger bar" - which, if you haven't figured it out yet, means basically every Glock and Glock-style pistol on the market. That's right, they're coming for one of the most popular handguns in America.
But here's the good news: the Firearms Policy Coalition, along with the NRA and Second Amendment Foundation, isn't letting this slide. They've filed a federal lawsuit called *NRA v. Moore* in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, seeking a permanent injunction to stop this unconstitutional nonsense.
Let's be clear about what's happening here. Maryland's so-called "Glock ban" is exactly the kind of overreaching, unconstitutional gun control that we knew was coming if they got away with the "assault weapons" bans. They started with so-called "assault weapons," then moved on to magazine limits, and now they're coming for your handguns. This is a slippery slope in action, and it's exactly why we can't give an inch.
FPC President Brandon Combs put it perfectly: "Maryland's politicians just declared war on an entire class of constitutionally protected handguns and the peaceable people who want to own them. This ban is immoral, unconstitutional, and tyrannical."
The lawsuit was filed on May 26, 2026, and the plaintiffs are being represented by some heavy hitters from Cooper & Kirk, PLLC. This is exactly the kind of legal battle we need - going after these unconstitutional bans in court and making the state prove its case.
If you're in Maryland or know someone who is, pay attention to this case. This is about way more than Glocks. This is about whether the Second Amendment means anything at all, or whether politicians get to pick and choose which firearms we're allowed to own.
The good guys are fighting back. Let's hope the courts do the right thing.
