We're talking about notifications for potential thefts, disaster preparedness info, and other administrative stuff that actually matters to running a gun shop. Messages go out between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern, so they're not waking you up at 2 a.m. with some nonsense.
Is this the sexiest story in the world? No. But here's the thing — I'd much rather see my tax dollars going toward helping FFLs protect their inventory and prepare for disasters than toward building out their not-a-registration-database-but-totally-a-registration-database. You know what I mean.
Let's be honest: the ATF hasn't always been our friend. Under previous administrations, it felt like they were constantly looking for ways to make our lives harder. But with this new leadership, we're seeing a shift. This alert system, combined with the recent rule changes on suppressors, suggests they're actually trying to work with us instead of against us.
Will this change everything? Probably not. We're still dealing with plenty of regulations that don't make sense.
