Well, well, well — looks like Coloradans told Boulder and Denver exactly what they can do with their "permission slip" requirements. The July numbers are in, and they're beautiful.
Over a million guns sold nationwide last month — 1,061,883 to be exact — up 8.5% from last year. That's not a fluke. That's Americans voting with their wallets and their freedom.
But here's the real story: Colorado saw background checks jump an absolutely insane 264% compared to last July. Why? Because on August 1st, their new anti-gun law kicked in requiring training, sheriff-issued eligibility cards, and a $52 fee just to exercise a constitutional right. Coloradans responded by buying nearly 82,000 guns in one month — compared to just 22,500 the year before.
As Mark Oliva from the NSSF put it: that's "a blaring signal horn that Americans will choose freedom over the tethers of unconstitutional burdens on their Second Amendment rights."
You love to see it. Every time lawmakers try to stack hoops in front of honest citizens, those citizens do the sensible thing — they buy NOW. The Colorado law was supposed to curb AR-15 sales. Instead, it created the biggest sales month in state history. Job well done, politicians. You played yourselves.
And if that's not enough to make your day, NFA transfers more than DOUBLED — 108% higher than last year. That's thanks to those 1934 taxes on suppressors and short-barreled firearms finally being zeroed out. Good riddance.
The takeaway? Gun control doesn't work. It never has. It just makes for great headlines and better sales numbers at my shop.
